"La Petite Mort"
Calavera Skull Lamp
An illuminated 3D printed "Day of the Dead" skull that cast hearts on walls
About
Our workshop is starting to make a name for itself after only a few months of activity. Based in Switzerland, Wicked Robot specializes in the manufacture of decorative lamps made by 3D printing. In four months, Wicked Robot has sold nearly
500 lamps, most of them shaped like skulls.
The lamp we launch today is in the shape of a Mexican skull. "It's an allegory of death and time that fascinates since the beginning of time"
The lamps are equipped with a LED candle designed in our workshop, and a rechargeable battery by USB port with an autonomy of twelve hours. A remote control allows you to choose between sixteen different colors for the light source.
We decided to print our objects in white to play with the structure of the material. Our lamps have cutouts which allows to project very graphic shadows, this calavera skull cast hearts on walls and ceiling.
The product offered by Wicked Robot is made from PLA, a biodegradable polymer based on polylactic acid, derived from corn starch. It's 100% biodegradable and compostable.
Printed layer by layer, this material has the same properties as plastic.
The design of the products is done by Alain Schlup (CH). Product ideas do not come from us, but from our customers.
3D printing makes people's imagination run wild.
That's why we want to be present on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, we want to produce new lamp models for and with the backer community.
Our workshop has eleven 3D printers, which can work simultaneously. Our current production capacity is 250 skulls a month, and it is constantly increasing with the addition of new robots. We affectionately named our machines, giving them the name of science fiction hero robots. For connoisseurs, there is Ava, Jarvis, Data, Amee or Sonny.
The production of a three-dimensional skull takes aproximatively 24 hours.
Wicked Robot is expected to rapidly expand its fleet of machines and soon have about fifty 3D printers.
